The wolf wilder is a fantastic read it has the vibe of a totally original book but it also has a slight touch of that old book that you have on your shelf that you read all the time and never grows old.

This is a thrilling, emotional and utterly enthralling story (perhaps my favourite in recent years) and is the perfect read for children aged 9-11. It's a story about a wild girl who was raised in the Russian woods by her mother and a pack of wolves.Feo and Sophie from Rooftoppers are somewhat interchangeable so don't read them too close together but otherwise I'm pretty ok with that! Feo’s world of wolves and snow, danger and triumphant bravery, rings with the classic allure of folktales.

This is about Feo, a budding wolf wilder, that’s on a journey to help save her mother from the Russian authorities and she meets people to aid her journey along the way. Rakov treats their wolves with the same brutal contempt he shows to the peasants, and despite her reclusiveness, Feo finds herself fighting alongside her neighbours for what is right.

Or the compass, which Feo creates out of a bowl of water and a needle, then balances on the head of her running wolf (without the water splashing out, I suppose? When I picked up this book I thought it was going to be an emotional read and I was right but it was also amazing it showed how you can act fearless when really you are terrified about what will happen next. The Wolf Wilder is, in a word, extraordinary Katherine Applegate The hero of Katherine Rundell's new book may be young and small, but Feo has a spirit as wild and dauntless as that of the wolves she cares for. But of course Feo was a great main character with her naive, but brave point of view and Ilya who became such a good friend to Feo, even if they didn't met in good circumstances. feo never treats them like pets - she always respects them as the wild and unpredictable creatures they are.

liked this book a lot because I could understand the words said in Russian because I can speak it and it was very interesting.I felt sad when many life-shattering events took place and I wonder how Feo could cope with what was going on. This is a striking, remarkable, magical book that is richly detailed and atmospheric and also beautifully written. With a group of men who were concerned about the girls safety round the wolves; she encountered many problems. I think The Wolf Wilder shows how important it is to fight for the things you love and to have courage in tough times.

I suspect that, without the success of her two earlier novels, this one wouldn't have made it past the publishers.
