In Chapter 1 of the Japanese orginal version, Kirby consumes a drink with a label that reads 「酒」 which means "alcohol." This was changed in the English localization to "Loopy Juice" to avoid references to alcohol. However, the kanji character can still be seen in one panel.

I love Kirby, but I'm not the audience for this genre of manga. I think most readers go into it expecting the soft "hiii~" of our spherical hero, only to find a toddler with godlike powers. Canonically correct, but a very different (and terrifying) kind of vibe. Ah, Free Comic Book Day, the day that means that spending time with my family on the weekend nearest my birthday always involves popping to a comic book shop at some point. In the first chapter in Kirby Manga Mania, Vol. 1, Kirby drinks a bottle of alcohol (translated as “loopy juice”) and proceeds to drunkenly destroy King Dedede’s relaxing sakura viewing party. He gives addled life advice to Dedede, flips a table in anger after failing karaoke, and falls asleep on a sushi advertisement. He also swallows his friend Chirby, who looks like a tiny Kirby with an ice cream cone on his head. All the while, Kirby punctuates his sentences with his catchphrase “pepoh.”

That collection is drawn from Super Mario-kun, which has been published consistently in CoroCoro since 1991. This is not the manga that showed Mario’s penis to the world, but it might as well have been. Dedede has a picnic. Kirby drinks "loopy juice" and *drunkenly* trashes everything. Even sober, Kirby habitually eats ALL THE FOOD. There is practically no time when they just have a pleasant time without Kirby destroying something.

The manga ran in Shogakukan's monthly CoroCoro Comic from May 1994 through November 2006, and was released in 25 individual tankōbon volumes. A special chapter was published in the December 2017 winter issue of CoroCoro Aniki, where it has been continued to be serialized. Viz Media planned to release the manga in North America in 2010, but it was cancelled.
