About this deal

When it came to the range test, I was impressed with this little bike! Despite the fact that the battery cannot be removed, it is large. A 10Ah battery, operating a small 250W motor, could be considered oversized for this small bike. It was able to power the unit for over 22 miles using mainly throttle. Now, this route included only mellow grades, but the bike made it up them with some additional pedal power. The range test was slow, taking over two hours to reach the 22-mile maximum. But even so, the ability to throttle yourself for over 20 miles on this little bike, really made it seem like a capable mini commuter. So the bike earns some serious points with its maximum battery range. Specifikace DYU D3F Motor The seat is adequately padded, with an unusual shape that slopes toward its center. The seat post is short for my 6’0″ frame and caused me some discomfort while pedaling. What makes this miniature e-bike an e-bike is its 240W rear hub motor housed inside the rear wheel. It’s a Class 2 motor with a throttle and a single level of pedal assistance, all of which is capped at 15.5 mph, according to DYU. The DYU rolls on a set of 14 inch wheels and is powered by a 240W rear hub motor and a surprisingly large 36V, 10Ah (360Wh) battery nested inside the front triangle of the frame.

Another sign that DYU is confident that the D3F is to be used as a legitimate form of transport is waterproofing. They have made this electric bike IP54, which means it’s protected against contamination from limited amounts of dust and water spray in any direction. So, you can ride it in the rain, but don’t clean it with a pressure washer or ride through a ford. It’s not just its portability that will win you over. The DYU D3F E-Bike is delivered completely pre-assembled. No complicated instructions, no misplaced screws – just unbox and start riding. When it comes to making your commute enjoyable, the electric assistance feature is a real game-changer. You can weave through traffic and climb steep inclines with little to no effort, keeping your energy levels intact for the rest of the day. Let’s take a closer look at the electrical specifications and features of the DYU D3F. It is equipped with a 36V, 10Ah (360Wh) battery, providing ample power for extended rides. The LED display allows riders to monitor essential information such as battery life, speed, and distance traveled. The 240W rear hub motor delivers efficient and reliable performance. For enhanced safety, the DYU D3F includes both a headlight and taillights, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. The pedal assist system, with one level of assistance controlled by a cadence sensor, offers a user-friendly and intuitive riding experience. Additionally, a throttle is included for moments when riders prefer to rely solely on motor power. Because of the bike’s tiny size, I personally think most people are going to be zipping around on the throttle and only pedaling to get up to speed and to help the motor up hills. That’s what I did, at least.

The compactness makes the DYU D3F quite wobbly. This is why we said the top speed of 15.5 mph is fast enough. However, the small wheels give this bike low gearing, making climbing small hills surprisingly spritely. Still, you may want to avoid cobbles and potholes, as they will feel much larger than they would on an electric bike with larger wheels. The bike has a single-speed drivetrain and a short crankset. It’s a tough pedal at low speeds, and at high speeds it has an uncomfortably fast cadence. The single gear does not climb well, so the drivetrain really leaves a lot to be desired. The brakes also have cut-off switches built into the levers. This means that when you brake, the motor automatically switches off, shortening your stopping distances, which is a welcome safety feature.

The brakes are mechanical disk brakes, and an important note here is that the set on our review bike arrived reversed with the left hand lever operating the rear brake and the right lever operating the front brake. Obviously a hill as steep or long as Hell Hole is not going to be the DYU’s cup of tea (especially if you’re an adult), but I will say that I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the bike’s climbing ability. The DYU D3F’s ease of use starts when it arrives. Due to its small size, DYU doesn’t have to break it down into a thousand pieces to ship. The result is a fast assembly that should have you riding in no less than 10 minutes, as long as your battery is charged. The motor has 250W and is mounted in the rear wheel hub. It has a top speed of 15.5mph. This may not seem that punchy, but it’s as fast as you want to go on an electric bike like this. The D3F has small wheels and a short wheelbase, which significantly contributes to its compactness. However, this doesn’t create the most stable ride.

If you’re planning a grand tour on a single charge, you may come up short. The DYU D3F parks up after XX km, so careful planning of your route may be necessary to avoid the dread of running out of juice mid-journey. The combination of a long stem, straight narrow handlebars, and a small 14” wheelset makes this bike very twitchy to steer, with small movements resulting in big responses. These small wheels are not very comfortable at speed. It feels like you’re riding a shrunken little unit, and I was thankful the thing tops out at 15.5 mph. At speed, I prefer a mini e-bike with a larger wheelset. So be careful riding the DYU D3F! Overall, the handling lends itself more to being a child’s toy than a true e-bike. All e-Bikes and e-Cargo bikes are sold under the terms laied out in our terms of use, and sold under the assumption all laws will be adhered to. Any e-Bike or e-Cargo bike with a power rating above the road legal 250W is sold under the terms of being used only on private land with the land owners' permission.

The bike is a little strange, with its long stem and short standover height. It was not built for tall people, and at 6’0”, I felt cramped. Because I struggled to find adequate legroom, pedaling was uncomfortable, even with the seatpost fully extended. The long stem and tiny tires also make for a jittery steering experience. In general, the bike feels just how it looks; small and a little odd. The frame is pretty robust. At 38 lb, the bike is compact. A built-in handle provides a convenient and easy carrying position.
