About this deal

The album was a major departure from the band's earlier sound, incorporating elements of trip-hop and shoegaze into their signature metal style. Snot's Get Some cover would've been memorable even if it wasn't tinged with the tragedy: Frontman Lynn Strait died a little over a year after the album's release in a car crash alongside his loyal pal, Dobbs, the doggie de resistance. Despite being written and recorded in only four months, the album is packed with classics like " Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" and " My Own Summer (Shove It)". The majority of the image is a panorama shot of an arctic desert, but the onlooker's eye is caught in a tug-of-war between the faded periodic table of elements and the glowing noggin of a mustachioed gentleman giving a cheeky smirk. The interview is short but it's a pretty cool read regardless, especially considering I never really gave too much thought about the people who appear on album covers prior to this!

I’m not saying we went in with any preconceived ideas as such, but I do think we went in knowing that we wanted to make this record a little different from the last two. Pushing the boundary of what is expected or assumed is a hallmark of both the design and the sound of Deftones' records. Even after its commercial success, the album was not without its critics; some reviewers accused the band of selling out and becoming too polished. It was a fitting tribute to Chi Cheng and a reminder that even in the darkest of times, art can still thrive. No doubt, it's a cool memory for the cover model, not to mention a great way to remember her relationship with the band. The use of the covers will not affect the value of the original works or limit the copyright holder’s rights or ability to distribute the originals.

There are moments of haunting beauty (" Rosemary"), searing intensity (" Tempest"), and pure groove (" Leathers") – all tied together in a distinctively emotive voice. On a nerdier level, the showcase of their canine mascot draws a direct comparison to Lou Dog, the Dalmation owned by the late Sublime singer Bradley Nowell — that band was clearly an influence on the reggae-inflected, Cali-punk-adjacent nu-metal that Snot excelled in. All of the violence, psychological instability and fuck-the-world energy of the band's early days is captured in this shot.

But it was also an album that was fraught with tension, both within the band and between the band and their label. Gore” will be released April 08th and the first single from it, “ Prayers/Triangles” can be streamed here. I wanted to see it first, but had a hard time getting a good copy, so I had Maverick Records fax it to me. And while she's previously revealed her identity as Deftones' Around the Fur enchantress, an interview she recently granted to Chilean pop culture site Pousta has revived talk of Hughes' time as an album art model. With its mix of heavy riffs and ethereal melodies, Around the Fur established the Deftones as one of the most popular bands of the late '90s. Since then, Deftones has released eight more studio albums, with every single one receiving critical acclaim. The album pushed the boundaries of what heavy music could be, with its atmospheric textures and ethereal melodies. Deftones is an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1988, consisting of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), and Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion).Their masks are creepy as hell, and the fact that the image is just dark enough that it makes it hard to see details make them look even spookier.
