There are some simple ways to cleverly detect a wine’s characteristics, and some simple terms to describe them. This book deserves multiple readings because it’s rich with information and experiences that reading once just becomes too overwhelming. But I kinda pretended like I knew what she was talking about and just let the info roll and I learned a few things! With boundless curiosity, humor, and a healthy dose of skepticism, Bosker takes the reader inside underground tasting groups, exclusive New York City restaurants, California mass-market wine factories, and even a neuroscientist’s fMRI machine as she attempts to answer the most nagging question of all: what’s the big deal about wine?

Now, of course, Morgan is a real person, not a fictional character, and I actually find a lot of his opinions about wine and life very interesting, and often even quite funny.
